About
Amaan Jahangir is a 26-year-old British South Asian, UK-based artist who has been painting for over a decade.
He uses striking and bold colours to visually realise the forever feeling, the wonderful encounter, the important moment. His practice resonates with the concept of a structured chaos which draws parallel to life and its intimate moments.
Jahangir is best known for his intertextuality, painting in conjunction with digitally-found text, poetry, and the written word. He grapples with the challenge of translating thoughts into words and words into images, attempting to find structure within the dynamism of his brushstrokes. A metaphor, perhaps, for the placing of the artist's practice against the backdrop of his personality, life, and love.
Since 2023, Jahangir has been working from a fully funded studio in Birmingham, awarded by Digbeth-based gallery Grand Union.
